TERMS OF REFERENCE
Elementary Bargaining Unit Committee
The duties of the Elementary Bargaining Unit Committee shall be as defined in the current Association Handbook and:
to work towards achieving the Unit’s objectives for elementary panel teachers;
to identify the needs of the members, particularly as they apply to elementary panel teachers, and recommend actions which the Unit Executive may undertake to assist them;
to make known the professional development needs of elementary panel teachers to the Professional Development committee;
to conduct a members’ needs survey;
to exercise the following duties in relation to collective bargaining in a manner consistent with the relevant provisions of the Association Handbook:
to represent the members of the Elementary Bargaining Unit in collective bargaining negotiations with the employer, subject to the relevant provisions of the Association Handbook and applicable law;
to recommend to the Unit Executive, the members of the Elementary Bargaining Unit who shall compose the Collective Bargaining committee;
to recommend to the Unit Executive, a chief negotiator to negotiate with the employer;
to provide input into collective bargaining proposals.
