TERMS OF REFERENCE


Section 7 - Duties of the Committees


  1. Elementary Bargaining Unit Committee

The duties of the Elementary Bargaining Unit Committee shall be as defined in the current Association Handbook and:

  1. to work towards achieving the Unit’s objectives for elementary panel teachers;

  2. to identify the needs of the members, particularly as they apply to elementary panel teachers, and recommend actions which the Unit Executive may undertake to assist them;

  3. to make known the professional development needs of elementary panel teachers to the Professional Development committee;

  4. to conduct a members’ needs survey;

  5. to exercise the following duties in relation to collective bargaining in a manner consistent with the relevant provisions of the Association Handbook:

  1. to represent the members of the Elementary Bargaining Unit in collective bargaining negotiations with the employer, subject to the relevant provisions of the Association Handbook and applicable law;

  2. to recommend to the Unit Executive, the members of the Elementary Bargaining Unit who shall compose the Collective Bargaining committee;

  3. to recommend to the Unit Executive, a chief negotiator to negotiate with the employer;

  4. to provide input into collective bargaining proposals.
